Marian Weaving

Marian is a late starter to academia but has had a life-long interest in the natural sciences in particular, nocturnal species. Having completed an Environmental Science degree majoring in Wildlife and Conservation Biology at Deakin University in 2008, Marian went on to complete an honours research project in 2009 researching the effects of urbanization and landscape disturbance on three nocturnal bird species – Southern Boobook, Australian owlet-nightjar and Tawny Frogmouth. Currently she is completing a PhD investigating the behavior and ecology of the Tawny Frogmouth in an urban landscape. Marian will present her finding from her honours year project and discuss her progress to date with the PhD.
